Hi, I’m Robert

technical communicator

multimedia creator

photographer

musician

 Here is my story

Taking the long route to tech comm

I’ve been a shoe salesman, a senior fraud analyst, a musician, an audio engineer, a video editor, a screen printer, and a freelance technical editor.

Each opportunity has taught me something about the different ways people communicate.

Growing up as the son of an accountant and an interior designer may have instilled the push-pull of creativity and organization that defines my work as well (Jury’s still out).

In 2007,

I made a career out of a lifelong hobby by enrolling in the Recording Arts program at NSCC in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I received the award for highest academic achievement and accepted a position at my teacher's audio recording studio (Soundmarket Studios) right after graduation.

We took the Gold record for Sloan’s Smeared off the wall

and left our Quinpool Road studio in late 2010.

I scouted new locations, designed our new recording space, and supervised its construction.

That facility later became Halifax Motion Picture Sound.

In 2013,

my wife and I moved to Montreal.

She studied pottery, sculpture, and supply chain management; I learned how to use a DSLR, mastered Adobe Lightroom, and added product photography to the list of services I offered.

One personal highlight was being the official photographer for world-renowned artist and sculptor Joël A. Prévost.

In 2016,

We returned to Halifax, Nova Scotia to start our family.

Since then

I have been putting my experience to work

  • Proofreading academic journal articles

  • Editing media

  • Assisting with academic research

  • Creating training documents

  • Writing web copy

Helping people say what they mean.

When I'm not helping my clients communicate better

I enjoy yoga, gaming, reading, music, debugging my smart home, and playing hide-and-seek in elaborate blanket forts.

I think we could work well together.
